Abstract:
|
Establishing a successful collaboration between statisticians and climate scientists is not an easy task. In this panel session, both climate scientists and statisticians, who have successfully established such interdisciplinary research collaborations, come together to discuss (1) how to bring together climatologists and statisticians to establish a healthy collaboration in order to obtain good balances between the two groups in terms of levels of understanding of the other side's discipline? (2) what are some emerging research topics in climate sciences that will require the development of new statistical/Machine Learning methods? (3) how to better train the next generation climate statistics researchers?
