National Institutes of Health Career Development Awards (K grants) are great because they cover 75% of your time over 3-5 years and facilitate your research and training through a mentored grant. As recent K25 awardee from the National Institute on Aging, I will give advice about how to synthesize your background, research aims, training aims, career objectives, and mentorship. This roundtable is ideal for early career faculty members and graduate students/postdocs preparing for an academic career at soft-money institutions. Participants will learn about K grants, best practices for writing K grants, and advice about how to set yourself up for success in the years before submitting a K grant.
