Abstract:
|
The official MFP measures produced by the Bureau of Labor Statistics employ estimates of labor composition (demographic information) largely based on the monthly Current Population Survey (CPS), while the measures used in the BEA-BLS integrated industry-level production account rely on updating benchmark labor composition data with information in the annual March supplement of the CPS. This paper presents work toward a new measure that serves the purposes of both the official BLS MFP accounts and the BEA-BLS integrated industry-level production account. We address sample size issues and approaches to deal with missing data.
