To fully engage undergraduate statistics students in the course, we'd love to personalize the datasets and research questions to each individual. But for each student to design a study, carry out an experiment and collect data while simultaneously learning the foundational concepts in an introductory statistics course is seemingly impossible in a semester. The population simulator in StatPowers fixes this. This new feature allows anybody to build a multivariate population with simple to complex dependencies, to design a sample schema and to perform rapid analysis. Allowing classmates to build populations for each other to investigate helps them to better understand variable relationships and allows an unlimited number of datasets to be generated and analyzed throughout the semester, with each population unique to each student. We'll examine the Spring 2021 semester's use of the population simulator as a case study of how population simulation can easily be incorporated into any statistics course.
