As the number of statisticians involved in biomedical or behavioral research projects greatly increases, the need for new methodology development and novel statistical applications in collaboration with clinicians and scientists becomes essential to a broad spectrum of the research. The necessity of securing funding for statistical investigators also continues to expand, however it is challenging for statisticians to develop statistical methods grant applications as a principle investigator leading multidisciplinary investigative team with the breadth of expertise who reflects the targeted audience of the work. Furthermore, there are limited options of study sections specifically for the proposals that put more emphasis on innovative applications of the advanced statistical methods rather than novelty of methods itself. In this roundtable we will have open discussions regarding the process for the aforementioned type of the proposal development/submission, tips on grant writing, study sections and their reviewer criteria. This roundtable is designed for all levels of researchers including those seeking funding or experienced senior investigators.
