Abstract:

This work uses a statistics citation network to quantify the influence of statistical theory and methods on other disciplines of science. By collecting citation data from core statistical journals over the past two decades and analysing the resulting network and citation communities, we discuss the impact different areas of statistics have made since the rise of Big Data. This will provide fundamental insights into how fast and to what extent new developments in statistical theory and methods are adopted by researchers in other disciplines.
