Abstract:
|
This session will help statisticians (and students) considering the biopharma industry understand what to expect from the environment. Some topics covered can include the functions on a study/project team, how the biostatistician relates to the people in those functions, the key milestones in the "life" of a clinical trial, and the contributions/deliverables the biostatistician has to the trial. Beyond clinical trials, career challenges will be discussed such as the biggest obstacles to new biostatisticians in biopharma, corporate culture differences, career advancement ideas, and the role of non-project work such as methodological papers or working groups. Junior and senior biopharma biostatisticians provide insight to these issues from a variety of perspectives.
