As universities, health care systems, and other institutions strive to take action to become anti-racist, quantitative scientists also seek strategies to conduct anti-racist research. This session will summarize recent initiatives to educate practicing researchers and trainees and highlight unmet needs in anti-racism research training. Presentations will summarize (1) the development of a recent “Anti-racism in data and analysis” seminar series at a clinical and translational science institute aimed at practicing clinicians, clinical researchers, basic scientists, and others in the community, (2) practical tips for modifying classroom teaching and course materials to reflect equity, diversity and inclusion, and anti-racism principles, and (3) gaps in anti-racism training from the perspective of an epidemiology and biostatistics student. The session objectives are to share recent initiatives and their challenges, draw attention to gaps, and generate ideas for future or expanded activities to promote anti-racism in data and analysis.
