Abstract:
|
Quantitatively, we know little about the size and characteristics of the transgender and cisgender populations. This paper uses data from the 2018 General Social Survey to produce statistically unbiased estimates of the percentages of persons aged 18+ in the U.S. who are transgender and cisgender. It then describes some of their demographic and socioeconomic characteristics. It shows that the transgender and cisgender populations are more similar than dissimilar.
