This talk will discuss current and future capabilities in quantum computing, focusing in-depth on adiabatic quantum computation using the D-Wave quantum annealer. The talk will describe how to format a problem in a manner the D-Wave can understand, technical issues, and sources of error in the quantum computation. A method of determining maximum likelihood estimates of a parametric model is introduced which uses a quantum annealing step. Time permitting, a quantum method of space-filling Latin hypercube generation will be shown, as well as a quantum method of matrix inversion.
