Keywords: artificial intelligence; machine learning; deep learning; big data
Abstract:

Artificial intelligence (AI) has finally emerged as a useful tool for big data analytics. This is due to decades of research that have provided powerful algorithms and the availability of plentiful computing resources. The purpose of this panel is to highlight and discuss some of the important issues in the development and application of AI methods. These include the best way to represent knowledge that AI algorithms can use to carry out a big data analysis and best approaches for making AI methods accessible and open. Other discussion topics will include interpretation of models generated using AI and statistical methods for evaluation. Example applications to biomedical data will be provided along with details of open-source software for AI in data science.
