Abstract:

In October 2018, an NSF-sponsored workshop brought together many leading researchers and educators to develop a 10-20 year vision for the field of Statistics taking advantage of the unprecedented opportunities and challenges in the era of data science. The panel will present an executive summary of the findings and recommendations from the workshop and the associated webinars, followed by opinions and analyses from individual panelists on a wide range of issues from grand challenges in research to necessary cultural changes in our community for Statistics to play a leadership role in data science. The panel also seeks input from the participants and encourages active discussions on the future of statistics.
