The Applied Public Health Statistics Section (APHS) of the American Public Health Association (APHA) serves statisticians and data scientists working in public health fields. The section identifies issues, develops strategies and promotes activities in statistical education, research and practice in public health settings. It has very diverse membership, and includes statisticians and data scientists practicing in federal, state and local governments, public health agencies, non-profit organizations or foundations, healthcare organizations, and universities. The field is growing, and the country is in severe shortage of experienced public health statisticians. The proposed roundtable will provide a network opportunity for statisticians and data scientists working in public health and other fields. We hope to attract more statisticians with diverse background and skillsets to join forces to advance public health education, research and practice. Graduate students, postdocs and junior faculty in related fields are especially welcome. We will discuss collaborative opportunities in various settings, and career opportunities in applied public health research and practice.
