Title: Ingram Olkin: a Mover and Shaker for Women in Statistics
Author(s): Amanda L. Golbeck*

Abstract:

Ingram was a quiet yet powerful influencer in the field of statistics. This includes being a mover and shaker for women in statistics. Ingram continues to hold the distinction of being the only man who has won the COPSS Elizabeth L. Scott Award for fostering opportunities for academic women. As one of his last collaborators, within a partnership that aimed to advance women in statistics, I was a front-row witness to his continuing advocacy. In this remembrance, I will comment on some of the things Ingram was thinking and doing about the status of women in statistics over the last few years of his life, including some "goodies" that he rediscovered and shared while cleaning out his files. Furthermore, I will examine his work on behalf of women and minorities within international and historical contexts.
