Abstract:

So you work hard, and aspire to move up through the ranks and someday lead an organization of statisticians. Perhaps your aspirations include a multi-functional organization that extends beyond Statistics, such as data management, operations, data science, programming, real world evidence, etc. How much has your training prepared you for this? Which aspects of the leadership skills you've developed at lower levels are portable to your new position? What additional skills do you need beyond those that worked well for you as a people manager, or even a manager of managers? Are you leading a single function or a multi-functional organization? This session discusses leadership at varying levels of responsibility, and this presentation focuses on an organization leadership role. I will examine the qualities that live on from previous roles as you continue to move up, those that you may have to abandon, and those new talents you will need to develop.
