Abstract:

SCHOLAR (Statistical Consulting Help for Organization Leaders and Academic Researchers) is a statistical consulting service founded in 2009 at the University of Central Oklahoma. SCHOLAR is staffed by undergraduate students, from a variety of majors at UCO, who work in interdisciplinary teams on projects submitted by researchers from UCO or representatives of organizations in the community. Since 2009, more than 50 students have participated in SCHOLAR, and more than 40 projects have been completed. This presentation will focus on the impact SCHOLAR has had on both students and clients. We will detail student outcomes, including presentations, attitudes toward and continuation on to graduate school, understanding of statistics, and confidence in research abilities; and will present results of a client satisfaction survey.
