Abstract:

The Naturalistic Driving Study (NDS) provides comprehensive and high frequency driving data for evaluating driving risk. This study reviews the statistical methodologies for modeling NDS data and types of research questions can be answered. Examples of using observational study design, causal inferences, recurrent event models, and time series method are presented. We also present the limitation of current methodologies as well a discussion of potential future research directions.
