Abstract:

Statistical programs are enjoying a renaissance in all sorts of academic settings. Programs in Statistics, Business Analytics, Data Science, and Operations Research benefit from close involvement with Industry. This panel will explore various stakeholder groups in statistical education settings and explore their roles in academic collaboration with industry. Perspectives will include the role of professionals as advisers and mentors, the role of software companies as educational partners, the benefits for students that interact with industry, and the benefits to professors that keep up to date with professional skills from outside the university. Industry involvement is a grab bag of goodness for everyone involved in statistical education and we will try in see that goodness from many sides in this presentation.
