Abstract:
|
The problems of defining, diagnosing and treating psychiatric disorders are difficult and are of high-interest. This round table discussion will focus on the role of statistics in addressing these problems. One question is what role should statistics should play in defining and differentiating mental diseases. Topics and questions for discussion include: (i) Innovative modeling and classification methods of complex biomarker data to aid in the conceptualization of mental illness diseases. (ii) Precision medicine often focuses on treatment outcome. Can data on treatment outcomes aid in the developing neurobiological categorization approaches to differentiate psychiatric diseases? (iii) Are there good sources of data available to use for developing and testing statistical methods towards solving these problems?
