The term 'Open Educational Resources' was adopted first at UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization)'s 2002 Forum and the OER adaptors are on the rise. It sounds like to be more engaging for educators and more affordable for students. Yet there are still many questions and concerns: What is the impact of using open textbooks? Is there any significant difference between traditional and electronic textbooks for statistical learning? The main benefit is that it does not cost students but is it beneficial to the instructors as well? Is it good for statistical education? This talk may not give a clear answer to those questions, but it gives us an opportunity to think and ponder educators and students.
