Historically students in the State of Missouri have been required to meet a minimum ACT Math score to take a college-level mathematics course. Until this year, this requirement was required for general education statistics courses, fulfilling the mathematics general education requirement, as well. Students not meeting a cutoff score of 22 were required to take Intermediate Algebra before our Basic Statistics class. With a new focus at both the institutional and state level on "Finish in Four", this year we were able to offer a corequisite class which allows these students to take Basic Statistics their first semester without taking Intermediate Algebra first. This presentation will discuss the structure of the course, the success rate of the students and compare the effect of the class size of the corequisite course on student retention and success.
