Abstract:
|
In broad strokes, this panel has divided the field of statistical consulting according to three different consultant-client relationships: consulting for academic clients, consulting for internal corporate clients, and consulting for external corporate clients. We discuss from start to finish the consulting process from the point of view of the consultant engaging with external corporate clients. We start by outlining project scoping and pricing decisions made as part of the RFP (Request For Proposal) response process. We talk about internal risk reviews and client negotiations that take place prior to the signing of a statement of work agreement. We review the client data acquisition process. We describe staffing decisions, and summarize a typical client project kickoff meeting. We outline our proposed study approach and provide sample deliverables specific to the case study. Lastly, we provide examples of challenges we typically encounter as consultants on our projects and how we handle them.
