We present cancer mortality rates as a function of age to explore variations in mortality rates of different age groups. Nonparametric smoothing methods are used to mitigate the existing randomness in the observed data. We present the disparity of cancer mortality rates among the age groups together with the rate of change of mortality rates. We apply principal differential analysis to measure the noisy features of the data in a single curve. The subject data are collected from Surveillance, Epidemiology and End Results (SEER) program of the United States.
