In the current Data Revolution, learning to think about and with data, as well as communicate results has become an important aspect of critical thinking and problem solving. Whether or not they end up with the job title of Data Scientist, our students will use data to address a problem at some point in their lives. Most, however, will only take one course in statistics so we as statistics educators need to make the most of our one opportunity. We describe our attempt at making the Intro Stats course more relevant for our data-driven students by changing what we teach, how we teach, and when we teach it.
