What are the predominant challenges in establishing a single semester course on statistical learning at the upper-division undergraduate or first-year masters' level? This roundtable considers what topics should be given more weight in the syllabus; how the instructor should design the course if the students come from a diverse academic background; how much of the emphasis should be on theory, programming, or case-studies; what a typical weekly assignment looks like; efficient strategies for relating the presented concepts within the broader context of statistical curricula; and what the future holds.
