Abstract #319323
Title: Shrimp Effort Estimation for the Gulf of Mexico Using Second-Order Linear Models (2007--2014)
Author(s): Morteza Marzjarani*
Companies: Saginaw
Keywords: Estimation ; GLM
Abstract:

It is always a challenge to find a reasonable model to represent a particular data set for future predictions. Previously, a basic general linear model (GLM) was developed to estimate the shrimp effort in the Gulf of Mexico using the data sets for the years 2007-2014. In this research effort, the same data sets is used to develop second order models including interaction terms to refine the shrimp effort estimation. A detailed analysis of the interactions among categorical and continuous variables in the models and then a comparison of the effort results to those previously obtained from the basic GLM are presented.
