Title: Break the Chicken and Egg Cycle: Increasing an Organization's Analytic Maturity
Author(s): Sarah Kalicin*
Companies: Intel Corporation
Keywords: Analytic maturity ; Organizations ; Business Impact ; Statistics
Abstract:

Many organizations need to embrace data and statistical methodologies to speed business decisions and increase efficiency, yet struggle with full adoption of these methodologies for their benefit. Such organizations often have low analytic maturity with limited data infrastructure to support successful adoption. It can seem like a chicken and egg scenario: to implement the right infrastructure, methodologies need to be adopted while organizations must value the proposition through both financial and personnel investment; methodologies are hard to adopt without the right infrastructure, since many nonstatistical colleagues are unwilling to do additional up-front work, even if they see long-term benefits. Through this roundtable, participants will discuss organizational challenges and how statisticians can lead efforts to break the chicken and egg cycle for organizations to fully adopt analytic methodologies to improve data-driven decisions.
