Title: A Useful Stemplot Example
Author(s): Robert Kushler*
Companies:
Keywords: stemplots ; teaching introductory statistics ; statistical thinking
Abstract:

Stemplots are a standard topic in introductory statistics courses, usually covered very early in the course. In this talk I will discuss an example I have used for many years to illustrate stemplots. The data are collected from the students "on the fly" while building the plot. Discussion of the example provides an opportunity to introduce several important ideas that are covered more thoroughly later in the course.
