Abstract:

This wide ranging session will consider the overall policy landscape within the UK and the US for statistics. The panellists will consider issues such as: support for science; evidence-based policymaking; official statistics; data sharing; open data; school education policies. Panellists will also consider the role of civil society bodies in improving policy and outline some of the efforts made by their organisations to do so. This session will appeal to all those with an interest in policy issues including academics, official statisticians and those working in the private sector. It is particularly timely to share lessons across the Atlantic to help inform and learn from one another.
