Abstract #318484
Title: Radiant: A Platform-Independent Browser-Based Interface for Business Analytics in R
Author(s): Vincent Nijs*
Companies: Rady School of Management
Keywords: Business Analytics ; R ; Shiny ; Dplyr ; ggplot2 ; dt
Abstract:

Radiant is an (open-source) R-package for business analytics. It is a Shiny application so it runs in a browser and works on Windows, Mac, or Linux and uses dplyr, ggplot2, and DT extensively to summarize and visualize data. It does not require an Internet connection but it can run as a web application on a server. Radiant does not use (pop-up) dialog windows so results are updated immediately when inputs are changed. You can save and load the state of the application to continue your work at a later time or on another computer. Share state files with others and create reproducible reports using rmarkdown. If Radiant is deployed on a server you can share the url with others so they can access the application state and see what you are working on. The app provides a bridge to programming in R(studio) by exporting the functions used for analysis. It also includes a code editor to write and test R-code inside the application environment. Finally, Radiant focuses on business data and decisions. It offers tools, examples, and documentation relevant to that context to reduce the business analytics learning curve.
