Title: Planning Efficient and Informative Experiments
Author(s): Joanne Wendelberger*
Companies: Los Alamos National Laboratory
Keywords: experiment design ; constraints ; efficiency ; run size
Abstract:

Statistical experiment design provides powerful methods for planning experiments that make efficient use of resources to meet specified objectives. There are often practical considerations, constraints, and unique aspects of the problem being studied that influence experiment planning and how the design process proceeds. This has led to a number of interesting statistical challenges that have been used to develop innovative approaches for addressing various design issues. The experiment planning process and the resulting benefits will be illustrated using examples of different types of experiments.
