Abstract:

The federal government provides some very unique opportunities for statistical collaboration. The nature of collaboration can vary from the establishment of interdisciplinary teams within departments, programs and institutions to the creation of cross-cutting workgroups and task forces requiring partnerships across agencies and institutions. Today, there are a number of factors driving the trend toward increased collaboration in a much broader context (academic, government, private industry). This presentation will provide a general overview of these factors and present several examples that illustrate the advantages of interdisciplinary collaboration (where the interaction of the team is necessary to produce the final product); and transdisciplinary collaboration (where team members train one another) across the federal government.
