htmlwidgets and Shiny are two complementary systems for creating and controlling interactive JavaScript visualizations using R. Multiple interactive views can be presented in a single layout or report, but actually coordinating the views requires writing ad hoc code in Shiny (coordination is not supported by htmlwidgets alone). In this talk I will present new additions to the htmlwidgets package that will let htmlwidget views emit and respond to semantic events, such as selection. This enables automatic coordination between htmlwidget views, either with or without Shiny.
