Abstract #318249
Title: Transform Your Workflow and Deliverables with Shiny and R Markdown
Author(s): Garrett Grolemund*
Companies: RStudio
Keywords: R ; Shiny ; R Markdown ; Reporting ; Communication ; Reproducible research
Abstract:

As a statistician, your effectiveness is limited by practical concerns. How easy is it for you to: reproduce your research? collaborate with others? report your results? These things will determine whether your insights are heard and accepted.

You can streamline all of these factors with the same software that you use to analyze data. The R programming language includes a time-saving workflow for collaboration, reporting, and reproducible research. You can use R's R Markdown package to save analysis in a sharable, reproducible format, and then use the format to automatically generate up-to-date html, pdf, and MS Word reports. You can use R's Shiny package to deliver your work as an interactive application for non-programmers. With a few keystrokes or mouse clicks, your audience will be able to explore and test your data, models, and results.

This talk will demonstrate the R Markdown and Shiny workflows with inspirational examples. You'll see that it is easy to learn to use these packages, and that it is very worthwhile to do so. The talk provides a headstart on learning, then points out the next steps.
