Abstract:

Sub-topic: Visualization vs. traditional presentation of data - what is there in subgroups? Traditionally, tables, figures and listings contribute the majority of deliverables from a sponsor for a regulatory submission. The figures are static and most often respond to single layer of questions only. Visual analytics offer a much more flexible and dynamic platform to understand various layers of information in a most interactive manner. The choice of tool and training required are often portrayed as rate limiters. These barriers need to be overcome due to overall utility gained both by sponsor and regulators. This talk will provide specific examples of presenting complex data in traditional ways and also by using effective visual tools. Examples will include subgroups and overall population visuals. The examples will illustrate the advantages over traditional ways of presenting such data to facilitate decision making at various stages of drug development. One of the factors that often results in significant delay in publications of scientific data in peer reviewed journals is the poor quality of data presentations especially around subgroups.
