Bathtu-shaped failure rates have been widely used in modeling component lifetime in reliability. However the mixture of two bathtub-shaped distributions may have complicated forms. In this study, we consider the failure rates in the form of quadratic polynomials. By carefully choosing the coefficinets, the mixture may also have bathtub-shaped failure.
