Abstract:
|
Due to recent advances in therapy and treatment, a significant proportion of patients are expected to be "cured" in cancer-relapse trials including breast cancer, non-Hodgkins lymphoma, leukemia, melanoma. The traditional methods such as Cox regression model is inappropriate for such data as this method does not take into account of "cured" patients. Cure rate models assume that a proportion of subjects who will never experience the event and thus the survival curve will eventually reach a plateau. Simulation is performed to compare several cure rate models with Cox regression model. The comparisons may also be demonstrated in real data.
