Abstract:
|
The content of introductory courses in statistics has changed little in recent decades. Visual Analytics is emerging as a powerful tool for transforming data into insight and information (or misinformation). The introductory business statistics course serves as a platform for discussing quantitative literacy of students likely to take only a single statistics course. Business students, in particular, benefit from exposure to highly interactive and exploratory visual analytics methods. A better balance among exploratory, predictive and inferential methods is proposed. What should stay and what should go in the next generation of introductory statistics courses? Come be a part of the discussion.
