Abstract:
|
In this paper I use my experience from volunteering on a project in Sierra Leone to explore the different facets of leadership skills that statisticians develop while serving the community at large (including the research community) in several different ways that include teaching, mentoring, collaborating, and consulting. I conclude with some thoughts on what I perceive to be the definition of leadership and a brief survey of the impact of statistical leadership in a few sectors.
