Title: A Look at Multivariate Meta-Analysis
Author(s): Joseph Cappelleri*
Companies: Pfizer Inc.
Keywords: multivariate ; meta-analysis ; correlated outcomes ; diagnostic tests ; survival ; research synthesis
Abstract:

Multivariate meta-analysis (MVMA) simultaneously synthesizes evidence of multiple outcomes reported in different clinical trials. MVMA can be useful as it accounts for correlations among the outcomes which are ignored when performing meta-analyses on each outcome separately. Typical applications of MVMA have been in the analysis of multiple correlated outcomes within a trial, such as overall survival and disease-free survival, and multiple correlated outcomes between studies, such as sensitivity and specificity in studies on diagnostic testing. This presentation, which will highlight advantages and limitations of MVMA, will introduce concepts and applications of MVMA.
