Title: A Permutation Test for Three-Dimensional Rotation Data
Author(s): Melissa Bingham* and Daniel Bero
Companies: University of Wisconsin - La Crosse and Iowa State University
Keywords: permutation test ; directional data ; 3-D rotations
Abstract:

The permutation test is a common nonparametric approach for comparing measures of center for two data sets. We consider the permutation test in a new setting, where the data of interest are three-dimensional rotations. We develop the three-dimensional permutation test for comparing two measures of center and explore its statistical power under various scenarios. We then use the permutation test in a small application involving movement around foot and ankle joints for three species.
