Abstract:
|
Dennis Lindley had a very simple and powerful conception of Bayesian inference, and a powerful intellect that quickly cut through a problem to see the essential, simple form of solution. In this talk I will look at three areas - axioms, utilities and applications - and ask whether his view was simple enough, or too simple.
