For the first time in the country it was developed a National urban Consumer Price Index (CPI-Nu) representing the urban population of the whole country. In this paper, the new CPI-Nu indicator developed by the National Institute of Statistics and Census of Argentina INDEC, its general characteristics and its implementation is presented. Relevant processes for the release and the various stages of production, including selection of the sample of local informants, the treatment of seasonal products, the processes of imputation and treatment of outlier values are also described.
