Title: Current Controversies in Bayesian Clinical Trials
Author(s): Lindsay Renfro*+

Keywords: clinical trials ; adaptive design ; hierarchical modeling ; Bayesian trial design ; adaptive randomization ; controversies
Abstract:

In the past year, some prominent manuscripts have questioned the validity and practicality of some Bayesian clinical trial design features previously touted as advantageous, including hierarchical modeling of trial subpopulations (e.g., biomarker signatures) for improved efficiency and response-adaptive randomization for ethical treatment of patients. Both the major arguments and counter-arguments will be presented in this roundtable discussion and practical examples and implications will be highlighted.
