Abstract:
|
Multilevel (also called hierarchical) data with possibly many nested levels and more than one outcome are considered. A family of tests for variance components will be described. The variance components can be tested at any level (inner, intermediate or outer). Covariates are allowed. The tests can use the original observations (normal-based), multivariate signs or ranks. An extensive simulation study shows the merits of the new tests by using the likelihood ratio mixture test as a benchmark. Real data examples will also be presented
