Abstract:
|
Ice hockey has long held an undeserved reputation of being behind other professional sports in technical sophistication. The members of this panel will demonstrate how the complexities of hockey data make it not only a fascinating subject of study but also a testing ground for statistical methods on large data sets. Each has experience in the academic study of the sport as well as connections to the way professional teams carry out their use of statistical methods.
