A majority of low to middle income countries (LMIC) are challenged with an array of health problems that affect the mortality and morbidity of their population. A Public Health approach focuses on prevention of disease at the population, rather than individual level and addresses the overall health needs of the population. Unfortunately, health workers in LMIC often do not have access to affordable quality education to build their capacity in Public Health. Peoples-uni was established to provide low cost education in Public Health for health workers in developing countries, using e-learning courses delivered over the Internet by an international group of volunteer tutors. Biostatistics is a core module in any such program, and this paper reports our experience. Aim: To demonstrate the outcome and challenges of internet based biostatistics education delivered to students from LMIC. Methods: All students who registered for the Biostatistics module at Peoples-uni from 2008 to 2012 were included in the study. Students were evaluated twice using online submitted assignments during a course period of 4 months. Outcomes were classified as passed, re-sit, failed or dropout/did not finish
