Abstract:
|
Modern genome-wide association studies have now led to discoveries of thousands of susceptibility loci across an array of complex traits. For almost all traits, however, a large fraction of heritability remains unexplained. Fueled by various sequencing and genomic technologies, the field is now rapidly evolving towards exploration of genetic pathways, epigenetic mechanisms, gene-gene/gene-environment interaction and study of rare variants. This round table discussion will give the participants to ask Dr. Nilanjan Chatterjee about the challenges and opportunities in the field for statisticians both in terms of science and career. Dr. Chatterjee is currently the Chief of the Biostatistics Branch of the Division of Cancer Epidemiology and Genetics at the National Cancer Institute. He has extensive experience in development of statistical methods and scientific collaborations in genetic epidemiologic studies of cancers.
