Abstract:
|
Traditionally, the role of the statistical analyst plays most heavily in the data analysis stage of a clinical trial. However, due to the increase in usage of trial simulation to design clinical trials, the statistical analyst's role expands to the trial design and planning stage as well. This is a very exciting new shift in the scope of the statistical analyst's work. In this roundtable discussion, I would like to discuss: What are the new tasks being asked of statistical analysts related to trial simulations? What different skills do statistical analysts need to possess to fulfill this role? What plans does the statistical function have to disseminate this new expertise broadly to all statistical analysts? An across-industry discussion would benefit all as we try to understand this burgeoning area of statistical work.
