Abstract:

Researchers often use different measures of similarity or their complements, measures of dissimilarity to compare two populations and quantify extent of similarity or dissimilarity between them. The sampling distributions in most cases are unknown making comparative inferences about two groups more difficult. Often decisions are made based on point estimates alone. This study utilizes simulation technique to generate sampling distributions and curve fitting functions built-in Mathematica® to estimate sampling distributions of some of the commonly utilized measures of similarity.
